Creole Bagelry: Selling a Big Apple Staple near the Big Easy

If you’re a big fan of bagels, then you’ll want to visit Creole Bagelry. This eatery specializes in this New York breakfast staple, putting their own twist on it.

Every morning, owner Darren Darby and his staff wake up early to boil and bake the bagels, so that customers can enjoy them in a variety of ways. Whether smeared with cream cheese, as the base of a breakfast sandwich, or crispy like a chip, there are nearly endless ways to have one of their bagels.

While there are lots of great breakfast items to select from, like omelets and pancakes, we highly recommend getting one of their bagel sandwiches. For something really unique, there’s the Croque Madame. You get ham and American cheese on a French toasted cinnamon raisin bagel, topped with a fried egg and served with grits or potatoes.

Check out some more one-of-a-kind creations on the Creole Bagelry Facebook page.

Palmettos on the Bayou: Enjoy Brunch by the Water

It’s located on the Bayou Bonfouca at Roberts Landing, a historic site that offers a tranquil atmosphere. In fact, this waterfront venue is great for weddings or other special events.

If you’re coming for brunch, we recommend dining on the 5,000-square-foot covered deck. You’ll enjoy a tasty meal surrounded by beautiful Louisiana Cypress trees-resulting in a wonderful experience.

You’re welcome to partake in one of their special brunch events, like the Jazz Brunch. The menu changes from time to time, but it includes options like Shrimp Grits and their Signature Bread Pudding. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy some classic jazz with your meal, making for a fun Sunday afternoon.

Southside Café: Comfort Food Right in Your Neighborhood

For some classic comfort food, stop by Southside Café. This restaurant opened in March 1991 by husband and wife Dan and Sharon DeBlanc, along with bartender-turned-managing-partner Chris Legrand.

They wanted to create a neighborhood restaurant similar to the ones they grew up with in New Orleans, and they’ve certainly succeeded. Between their delicious comfort food and various libations, you’re sure to have a good time with your friends and family here.

Brunch is served all day on Sundays, so you can sleep in, then stop by for one of their tasty meals, like the signature Eggs Pontchartrain. A toasted English muffin is topped with smoked Applewood bacon, two poached eggs, a half dozen golden fried oysters, and homemade Hollandaise sauce.
