Honda CR-V Maintenance Schedule

Honda CR-V Maintenance

The Honda CR-V provides great peace of mind through its performance and safety features. However, the quality needs to be maintained to help keep you safe on the roads of Slidell, Picayune, and St. Tammany Parish. One way you can do this is by bringing the vehicle to the Honda of Slidell Service Center for routine checks.

You may be wondering what the Honda CR-V maintenance frequency is. What’s nice about the vehicle is that it has a system in place—Maintenance Minder™—to notify you when service is needed.

We’ll tell you more about this system and the Honda CR-V maintenance schedule as a whole. Afterward, you can contact us for a routine vehicle inspection.

Following the Maintenance Minder™

Honda CR-V Dashboard

Maintenance Minder™ shows system messages on the CR-V Driver Information Interface behind the steering wheel.

The system displays two main messages:

  • Items that are due to look at soon.
  • The percentage of oil left in the automobile.

There are two types of codes that will appear on the Maintenance Minder™. The first is the letter “A” or “B,” which is a “Maintenance Main Item.” The second is a number ranging from 1-7, which is called a “Maintenance Sub Item.”

Maintenance Main Items

As we mentioned, a “Maintenance Main Item” will appear as the letter “A” or “B.” If you see “A,” then the engine oil will need to be replaced. You’ll also see a message every time you turn the CR-V on when there’s less than 15 percent oil left. At that point, you’ll want to bring the vehicle in for service as soon as possible.

If the letter “B” appears on the Driver Information Interface, you’ll need to replace the engine oil and filter as well as inspect the following car components:

  • Front and rear brakes
  • Tie rod ends, steering gearbox, and boots
  • Suspension components
  • Driveshaft boots
  • Brake hoses and lines (including ABS/VSA®)
  • All fluid levels and condition of fluids
  • Exhaust system
  • Fuel lines and connections

Maintenance Sub Items

Honda Service

Then there are the “Maintenance Sub Items,” which appear as a number ranging between one and seven. Those numbers represent the following work that needs to be completed for your CR-V:

  1. Rotate the tires.
  2. Replace the air cleaner element, as well as the dust and pollen filter. Inspect the drive belt, too.
  3. Replace the transmission fluid.
  4. Replace the spark plugs and inspect the valve clearance.
  5. Replace the engine coolant.
  6. Replace the rear differential fluid.
  7. Replace the brake fluid.

After service has been completed, the Maintenance Minder™ system will have to be reset. Otherwise, it may show incorrect service intervals, which can lead to severe mechanical issues down the road.
