Interior Space & Amenities

Honda Pilot Interior

A big reason why people look at SUVs is for its number of seats. The Honda Pilot can fit up to eight people, while the Ford Explorer seats up to seven. Either way, you’ll have more than enough room for your family, friends, or coworkers.

However, you may feel more comfortable inside the Pilot, especially in the very last row. It has 57.6 inches of third-row shoulder room and 44.6 inches of third-row hip room. In the Explorer, you’ll have just 54.6 inches of shoulder room and 40.9 inches of hip room in the very back row.

The Pilot provides more cargo room, too, with a maximum 109 cubic feet of space. When the second and third rows are folded down in the Explorer, you’re getting just 87.8 cubic feet of cargo room.

However, both models offer tons of amenities. For instance, they both have tri-zone automatic climate control, which allows riders in the first two rows to make the cabin temperature how they like it.

2020 Pilot vs 2020 Explorer Technology

The Pilot and Explorer offer advanced technology to help you stay connected to your favorite apps and music. This is primarily done through Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™, which are available in both models. On top of that, you’re in control of it all with their available 8-inch touchscreen displays!

Your backseat passengers can stay entertained in either model thanks to rear entertainment systems. Just pop in a movie, have them don the included headphones, and enjoy a peaceful drive to your destination.

Once you get to your place of interest, you can use the Cabin Talk® In-Car PA System offered in the Honda Pilot to communicate to the people in the back. Rather than shouting at your family, they’ll hear everything at a normal volume through the car’s speakers or the available headphones.

Unfortunately, you won’t find this feature in the Ford Explorer.

Honda Pilot Safety

Every Pilot trim is equipped with Honda Sensing®, a suite of safety and driver-assisting technology that help you stay safe and in control out on the road. The features that come standard include:

With the Honda Sensing® suite in your corner, you’ll be more confident behind the wheel.

The 2020 Pilot also comes standard with a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera. The three views—normal, top-down, and wide—along with guidelines help you park with ease.

The 2020 Explorer also comes standard with driver-assisting feature like the ones mentioned above. However, a multi-angle camera isn’t available until the higher trim levels.
